CANANDAIGUA - Joseph "Bill" Erwin, age 93, passed away on October 19, 2018. He is survived by his son, Gary (Andreina) Erwin; three grandchildren, Rachel, Andrea and Nicole Erwin; brother, Frank (Bev) Erwin; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Erwin, in 2011; and son, Joseph Erwin Jr., in 2015. Bill grew up in Hewlett, NY and graduated from Woodmere High School in 1943. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in the Southeast Asian theatre during WWII. He earned an engineering degree from the University of Michigan and moved with his family to Canandaigua in 1967, where he worked at Mobil Chemical for over 20 years. He was a long time member of St. John's Episcopal Church and the Canandaigua Country Club. In retirement, Bill enjoyed playing golf, tennis and volunteering at the Gleaners Community Kitchen and Sonnenberg Gardens. Services are private.
