JoAnn Gibbs was born in Frederic, WI on July 23, 1931, to Dewey and Ione Akerlind.  She entered Heaven's gates on December 26, 2018.  She is survived by three children, Vicki Gibbs of Houston, TX, Brian Gibbs of Madison, WI, and Terry Gibbs (Erin Skold) of Eau Claire, WI; one cousin, Grayce Peterson; 9 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.    She is preceded in death by her husband, Howard Gibbs; daughter, Penny Miller; brother, Glendel "Snookie" Akerlind and wife Christine; sister, Audrey Videen and husband Jerry.  JoAnn married Howard July 30, 1949.  They enjoyed a happy, adventurous life until his death in 1985.  Howard and JoAnn retired to Frederic in the early eighties.  Though they had traveled and lived in many places, Frederic was home.  JoAnn loved her home, her yard, and her community.  She loved being outdoors and took long walks every day.  She worked on the committee for the Frederic Cancer Walk for many years, and was an active member of the Good Cheer Club.  She loved playing cards with various groups and was active in church functions.  JoAnn was an active, happy lady who never knew a stranger.  She will be missed by many.  A Memorial Service will be held at Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church in Lewis, WI, on Monday, December 31st - visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 a.m.  Rev.
