Helen Elizabeth (Tanner) Howard, 95, of Parkersburg, passed away December 20, 2018. She was born in Turkey Hollow, Roane County, WV on April 18, 1923, a daughter of the late Elbert Tanner and Cleora (Starcher) Tanner. Helen was a homemaker and had worked for Singer, BF Goodrich, and Kellwood. Helen believed to the end in the word of God. She was a member of The American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and Helen enjoyed sewing, canning, animals, family reunion especially the Tanner Take Over Reunion. She is survived by her twins, Joseph A. Howard and Joyce A. Conrad, her loyal companion black lab Gus, several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband James M. Howard, two sisters, Francis Waybright & (Howard) and Stella Anderson & (Rev. Willis), two brothers, Hershel Tanner & (Madeline) and Arley Tanner & (Reba), sister-in-law, Arlene Boggs Tanner, father & mother-in-law Dr. George C Howard & Sarah C. (Riggs) Howard, and several nieces and nephews. A private graveside service will be held a Pisgah Cemetery in Ritchie County at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made in her name to any charities involving, no kill animal rescue, adopt a pet, feed the birds, or do a good deed for a stranger.
