Torchy Goldman Boyd

Torchy Boyd, was born December 25, 1925 in Paterson, New Jersey and took her final journey home on December 18, 2018 passing away peacefully with family at the age of 92. <br/>She grew up in New Jersey the only child of adoptive parents William Goldman and Maggie Bartel Goldman. Torchy moved to and lived most of her adult life in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania surrounded by extended family and friends. She married Honor Boyd (later divorced) and raised her daughter, Margo Boyd (Wheeler) and son Roland Boyd (who predeceased her). She worked hard in the hospitality industry, raised her children in the church and enjoy a full life entertaining friends and family at home. Their family traditions were memorable and will be sorely missed<br/>She was a woman of great faith, loved her family and took pleasure in spending time with her daughter and grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Nana”. She moved to Tacoma, Washington in 1990 when her daughter was stationed at Fort Lewis and called this home for more then 28 years. Torchy was a generous, loving woman who welcomed her daughter and grandchildren’s friends as part of the family. She rarely met someone who didn’t become a friend and never judged others.<br/>She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. Torchy Goldman Boyd is survived by daughter Margo Wheeler, grandchildren Samuel Wheeler Jr and wife Eseta Taaititi, Denise Wheeler and spouse John Hammond; Kenny Napier, great grandchildren Shanea Wheeler, Margo D Wheeler, Fatima Edge, Tyreik Wheeler, Robert Wheeler, Martika Wheeler, Denisecia Wheeler, Luvander Taaititi, Samary Wheeler, Shikeya Wheeler, Kahdesha Lyons, DeAndre Napier, Kemarion Napier, Odessa Wheeler, Odelia Wheeler; great great grandchildren Denise Summers, Spencer Edge, Jaylen Wheeler, KahMya Wheeler, Kaylanee Williams, Kaelin Williams, Jacobi Wheeler, Floyd Banks Jr and extended family and friends.<br/>She will forever be missed. A Celebration of Life for Torchy Boyd will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019; 2:15 pm at 3873 S 66th Street (Star Center), Tacoma, WA 98409.
