Vicky Carlene Daniels Obituary

Vicky Carlene (Kembel) Daniels was born August 6, 1947 at Saint Vincent’s Hospital in Billings, Montana to Carl and Helen Kembel. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church and later became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Miles City where she was active in Walther league and sang in the choir. She later transferred her membership to Trinity Lutheran Church in Billings where she continued to be a loyal member. Vicky’s early years in life were spent growing up in Fromberg until her parents moved to Miles City where she graduated from Custer County High School in 1965. While in high school she participated in the senior choir and earned a superior award at State.
In October 1965, she married David Banfield and they had two children, Michelle (Banfield) Honstain and Jason Banfield.
Vicky worked several years at the Sears catalog store and Miles City Stock yards. Her ability to move, organize and track all livestock sales came natural to her. Her attention to detail and tenacity to balance these sales was an integral part of the stock yard’s success. She loved working the World Famous Bucking Horse Sale and Bull sales and had an (impressive) intuition of which animals would be in the top five sales every year.
Vicky moved to Billings in 1989 to be closer to her parents and met her forever husband and life partner, Ralph Daniels. They married on February 7, 1997. They spent many days camping, fishing, and attending their grandchildren’s school and sporting events. A loving “Nama”, “Awma”, “Gumma”, “Nana”, she enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren, especially at Christmas each year. Her cooking and baking were second to none, this was her love language when family members were in need. She was also a full pledged QVC member and they will likely be reporting a quarterly earnings loss.
Vicky passed away at her home Friday October 19, 2018. She is survived by her devoted husband Ralph; her mother Helen Kembel; daughter Michelle (Chet) Honstain and son Jason (Callie) Banfield; stepchildren Thad (Jennifer) Daniels, Sarah (Brent) Berg, and Katie (Levi Korst) Daniels; her grandchildren Jennifer, Brianna, Jaxon, Reese, Kaeden, Avery, Taylor, Wyatt J., Hattie, Rebekkah, Rhyder, Dudley and Wyatt. She is also survived by her sister Becky (Dan) Sorlie, nephew Josh (Jackie) Sorlie, great niece Brittney Sorlie; brothers-in-law Nate, Robert and Don Daniels. Also surviving are her uncle Raymond (Donna) Kembel, aunts Barbara Pope and Cicy Pope and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father Carl and brother-in-law Richard Daniels.
Donations may be made to Trinity Luthern Church, 537 Grand Ave. Billings, MT, 59101 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
