<p>HOLDEN - Priscilla Jane (Roberts) Chapman, Ph.D., 91, wife of the late Harold L. Chapman, Ph.D., for nearly sixty two years, died December 8, 2018, at a Bangor hospital. She was born October 30, 1927, in Brownville Junction, the first of three daughters, born to George and Ena (Ryder) Roberts.</p><p><br></p><p>Priscilla graduated from Brownville Junction High School, Class of 1945, the University of Maine, Class of 1950 with a B.S. in Home Economics, Dietetics Major. She continued her education, receiving a Masters Degree in Secondary Education from Farmington State College, a sixth year diploma in Professional Education, 1980, and a Ph.D. in Higher Technical and Adult Education, 1983, from the University of Connecticut, Storrs.</p><p><br></p><p>Priscilla’s work experience included teaching swimming for the Red Cross during college semesters, assistant dietician at Eastern Maine General Hospital, Bangor, and for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. She served as Chair of Home Economics at Westborough High School, Massachusetts for eighteen years and as an adjunct professor at the University of Connecticut, Storrs, supervising student teachers and curriculum development. She also taught Consumer Economics courses at University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She was active in local, state, and national educational and economic organizations, serving on the Massachusetts Occupational Education Commission, for ten years. She was a member of Phi Delta Kappa, and Omicron Delta Kappa, receiving recognition as Teacher of the Year and Leadership awards. </p><p><br></p><p>In her leisure time, Priscilla enjoyed hooking and braiding rugs, reading, swimming, sailing, crosswords, cooking, and organ playing, as well as many other crafts. She loved the summers spent with her husband and four sons, at Beech Hill Lake in Otis, ME. </p><p><br></p><p>Priscilla and her late husband, “Chappy,” enjoyed over 20 retirement years between Belize, Central America, Maine, and sailing the reef from Mexico to Honduras. </p><p><br></p><p>In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her third son, Jeffrey, in 2007; husband, Harold, in 2012; sister, Charlene in 2018; and her first son, Stephen, in 2018. She is survived by two sons, Jonathan and his wife Theresa, of Dedham, ME, Christopher of Holden, ME; granddaughter, Ashley of Thompson, CT; sister, Marilyn of Lucerne, NY; nieces, Kelly Suttner, and Tracy Percival; nephews, Robert Thibodeau of Brownville, ME, Paul Percival of Quincy Massachusetts; and one cousin, Joann Ericson.</p><p><br></p><p>In keeping with Priscilla’s wishes, service will be private for the family. Interment will be in Chapman Cemetery, Newburgh. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com.</p>
