Gwen Atkinson Obituary

Gwen Atkinson, age 75 of Woodson, passed away Monday, December 10, 2018. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, December 15th at Morehart Mortuary Chapel with Danny Atkinson officiating. Interment will follow in the Woodson Cemetery. Gwendolyn Ruth Owens was born October 10, 1943 in Spur, Texas to Elmo Alexander Owens and Margaret Ruth Walker Owens. She married James Keaton Atkinson in Spur on May 19, 1962. Gwen worked for Baxley Manufacturing as a furniture builder and later at Walmart for 10 years. She was a Baptist and loved her dog, Tito. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Atkinson; her parents, Elmo & Margaret Owens; two brothers, Ronald Lynn Owens and Gary Delane Owens. Gwen is survived by her three children, James Atkinson of Texarkana, Sissy Atkinson of Breckenridge, Monica Jones & husband Chad of Breckenridge; her three bonus children, Danny Atkinson & wife Connie of Baird, Jimmy Atkinson & wife Judy of Clyde, Mitch Atkinson & wife Kelly of Brock; one brother, Curtis Paul Owens & wife Sheilah of Woodson; seven grandchildren, Rusty Atkinson & wife Heather of Breckenridge, Misty Atkinson of Weatherford, Savannah Atkinson of Breckenridge, April Edgar & husband Michael of Woodson, Derrick Robles of Breckenridge, Cara Tinker & husband Jonathan of Breckenridge, Amy Cortez & husband Brandon of Graham; twelve great grandchildren; many cousins, including her best friend/cousin, Poppy Hankins of Durant, Oklahoma, and Aunt Mackie Dooley of El Paso.
