Linda Rae Wilson Obituary

Linda Rae Wilson (Goss), 78, died peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on Friday, October 19, 2018. Linda was born in Caldwell, Idaho on February 27, 1940 to LaVone and Donna (Sanders) Goss. Linda went to various schools in the Northwest while her father spent time in the Army. She returned to Caldwell, when her parents divorced. When she was 10 her mother married Merle Crosier. The Family moved to Germany where she continued her education, before graduating in Alaska. Linda was a runner-up in the Ms. Eielson beauty pageant in Alaska. Her ambition to be an airline stewardess was detoured when she was swept off her feet by a suave, entertaining, young airman named Hugh (Bud) Wilson. Shortly after they met, the two were married and two years later their only child Woody was born. May 2, 2019 would have marked their 60th anniversary. Being in the Air Force led to a charmed life in Texas, Germany, and South Carolina before Bud retired from the Air Force and they returned to Caldwell. Linda worked at Caldwell City Hall for a time until she and Bud Ran off to join the circus in 1970. Following a two year exciting stint working from Oceanside, California to Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Canada and numerous points in between with the circus they returned home to Caldwell once again. Linda became a full time homemaker at that point. But the travel bug bit them once again when Bud took a job in California. Linda returned to Civil Service and followed Bud from Lompoc to Victorville, to San Jose, to Marysville, back to Victorville, to Riverside and finally to Enid, Oklahoma, where they both retired. But they werent through travelling. Shortly thereafter, they purchased a travel trailer, resumed their love of travel, and made their way around America for three years before returning to Caldwell for good. When they were able, and that was often, Linda and Bud traveled to Sacramento, CA to visit their son and grandchildren. Linda loved her family, which continued to grow throughout her life as people she met adopted her as their own Mother/Sister/Aunt/Grandmother/God-mother. Being the matriarch was her calling, and she answered in grand fashion. She was Saintly in her ability to support, forgive, and assist in a persons path to redemption. In recent years, Linda loved working in her garden. She loved working with her daughter-in-law (Carolyn), foraging for glass pieces to assemble Garden towers. They spent countless hours on this hobby, and created some remarkable pieces. She was an avid crocheter and knitter. Many family members and friends were lucky recipients of her beautiful afghans and throws. Linda was a gem of the finest quality, and will be deeply missed. She is survived by her husband Bud, son Woody (Carolyn), brothers Gary Goss (Phyllis), Les and Wes Crosier, sisters Nancy Floyd and Pixie Crosier, grandchildren Michael, Sabine, Benjamin, and Cambria, great-grandchildren Joe, Casity, Brandin and Chasity, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her younger brother Tom Goss. An open house to celebrate her life will be held at the Wilson home on Saturday, October 27, 2018 from 1 to 3:00 pm.
