Dean was born in Spring Valley on October 4, 1954 to William and Audrey (Dean) Sack. He married Jane Jakse on November 15, 1975, and they created their lives together as partners in all things business and fun. Dean farmed his entire life. He became an apprentice boilermaker at the age of 18 with Local Union #60 and through his construction career progressed from the trades to a series of leadership roles and ultimately retired as the CEO of Allied Power, a company he was instrumental in launching. By the time Dean retired, he had accumulated 50 years in the nuclear energy industry.
Dean’s passion was to be busy and productive every day of the week. But his love was devoted to his family. Only his grandsons could tempt him to take some time off to fish or play a few rounds of golf. He particularly enjoyed hosting celebrations and holidays and connecting with his extended families. Dean always believed if you worked hard enough, opportunity opens up and he made sure to share his advice with career-seeking nieces and nephews. He always stressed that a good work ethic and a firm handshake will take you places.
Dean is survived by his wife Jane of Peru, two daughters Rebecca Sack of North Riverside and DeAnna (Eric) Soriano of Chicago, two grandsons Will and Jax Soriano, one brother Bruce (Susan) Sack of Mendota, one sister Louise (Jeff) Zmudka of Oglesby, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved and respected.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be his nephews.
Per Dean’s wishes, memorials may be directed to St. Jude Hospital. As he stated, “No child should have to go through cancer.”
