Arthur S. Wildman, 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown, New Jersey.
Born on November 14, 1935, to Arthur and Beatrice Wildman in Grasmere, NH, Arthur grew up in his hometown, attending Goffstown High School. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of New Hampshire in 1957. Following his graduation, Arthur proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1957 to 1960 as a weather officer, flying on B-50’s along the polar routes and achieved the rank of Captain.
One of Arthur’s greatest sources of pride was his long and dedicated career as a chemical engineer. He worked for Merck & Co. Pharmaceuticals in Rahway for 42 years, retiring in 2002 as the Director, Process Engineering. His leadership and expertise left a lasting impact on the company, and he took immense pride in the accomplishments he achieved throughout his tenure.
Arthur was a devoted member of Blessed Sacrament Church and led a life filled with passions and hobbies. An avid golfer, he enjoyed playing on numerous county courses throughout New Jersey. He was also a classic car enthusiast with a particular love for Triumphs and Packards. He was an active member of Triumph clubs, serving as an officer in the local New Jersey Triumph Association. Arthur also had a deep appreciation for travel, having taken many recent trips throughout Europe. He also treasured time spent at the family’s condo in Hilton Head, a place that held special memories for him.
Arthur was predeceased by his beloved wife, June, as well as his daughter, Alison, and his son, Arthur III. He leaves behind his children: Robert Wildman and his wife, Wendy; Richard Borquist and his wife, Madeline; and Jill Saladino and her husband, Joseph, and his loving companion, Shirley Lipke. His twin brother, George Wildman; his cherished grandchildren, Christopher Wildman, Erin and Erika Borquist, Jenna and Robert Wildman, Joseph Saladino III and his wife Carly, and Marijean Lechtrecker and her husband, Anthony. Arthur’s legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, Ella, Alison, Anthony IV, and Joseph IV.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 18, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Higgins Home For Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. A graveside service will follow on Wednesday at 11:30 AM at Holy Cross Cemetery and Mausoleum on Mount Airy Rd. in Basking Ridge.
Arthur will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his career, and his many passions. His kindness, intelligence, and love of adventure will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
