Nadezhda Kotubey, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Springfield on March 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 70 years old.
Born on November 5, 1954, in Mukachevo, Ukraine, Nadezhda was the daughter of Michael and Gafiya Plesha. She endured a difficult and challenging life in Ukraine, working as a head seamstress in dire conditions, though she rarely spoke of these hardships after moving to the United States. In 1993, seeking a better future, she immigrated to America, settling in Spotswood, New Jersey, where she raised her family with love, resilience, and unwavering strength. In 2017, she moved with her daughter to New York, and in 2022, she relocated to Florida, where she embraced a new chapter of her life.
Nadezhda was a hardworking and compassionate woman, dedicating much of her career in the U.S. to home healthcare, providing comfort and care to those in need. Despite her demanding work, she always made time for the things that brought her joy. She found peace at the beach, where she loved to listen to the waves and watch the birds. An avid gardener, she took great pride in tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, nurturing each plant with the same love and dedication she gave to her family.
Hospitality was at the heart of who Nadezhda was. She loved hosting dinner parties, and her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the aroma of her delicious cooking. She welcomed family and friends with open arms and an open heart, creating a home that was always filled with love, tradition, and togetherness. Her unwavering generosity, kindness, and strength of spirit made her beloved by all who knew her.
Above all, her greatest joy in life was her family. Nadezhda is survived by her four loving children: Nadia Kotubey, Marianna Kulinich and her husband, Oleg, Oksana Young and her husband, Theodore, Evelina Pashchuk and her husband, Ruslan
She was also the cherished grandmother of seven grandchildren, who brought immense happiness to her life: Destiny (Alex), Nathaniel, Ethan, Noah, Eli, Theodore, and Matthew.
Nadezhda’s life was one of perseverance, love, and faith. She touched the lives of so many with her warmth and unwavering dedication to her family. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
A visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ, Followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. She will be interred at Hollywood Cemetery in Union.
Her family finds comfort in knowing that her legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
