Carol Monette Young

Carol Monette Young, 89, of Florence, KY, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, on her birthday, leaving behind a legacy of joy, laughter, and love. The daughter of the late George Waller and Maudie {Ainsworth} Waller, Carol was born on March 11, 1936, in Waynesboro, Mississippi.

Carol was a natural performer, known for her captivating voice and love for singing country and gospel music. She spent many happy moments singing alongside her two brothers, Clyde and Harold, while her son, Kenny, played the piano. Carol was an avid admirer of Patsy Cline, whose music filled her heart throughout her life. Carol was always the picture of grace, taking great pride in her appearance and always dressing to the nines. A special fondness for sparkles, Carol would add a touch of brilliance to all of her outfits. Her outgoing and charming personality was magnetic, and she had an unmatched ability to make those around her laugh.

Family was everything to Carol; she cherished her role as a wife, mother, and as "Mamaw" to her grandchildren and "Gigi" to her great-grandchildren. Her bond with her late twin brother, Clyde, was particularly special, and the two shared an inseparable connection that spanned a lifetime.

She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Cindy (Dave) Porter; grandchildren Jeremy (Missy) McCarty, Michael Porter, and Jill (Chad) Lay; and great-grandchildren Chadwick, Jacob, and Olivia Lay. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Earl Young; sons Gary McCarty and Kenneth Young; and her five brothers and sisters.

A visitation will be held between 12 PM and 1 PM with a funeral service to begin immediately after at 1 PM on Monday, March 17th at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, 8461 Dixie Hwy, Florence, KY, 41042.
