Gay - Scotty Roland Gay, Sr., age 55, passed away on March 9, 2025, at St. Vincent’s Southside in Jacksonville, FL. He was born on October 24, 1969, in Jacksonville, to Byron Roland Gay and Vicki Osteen Gay.

After graduating from N.B. Forest High School, Scotty joined the United States Navy in November of 1988, proudly serving his country aboard the USS Saratoga (CV 60) at Naval Station Mayport, FL. Scotty earned numerous commendations during his time in the Navy, including Navy Unit Commendations, Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, the National Defense Service Medal, the Southwest Asia Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, and the Kuwait Liberation Medal. His military title was Operations Specialist Class A.

Scotty loved God deeply, and his faith was a guiding light throughout his life. He was known for being caring, compassionate, humble, and loyal. A devoted dad and "Pa" to his grandchildren, Scotty cherished every moment spent with those he loved. His love for playing billiards was also a favorite pastime. Scotty’s memory will forever be cherished by all who knew and loved him.

Scotty left behind his wife of 30 years Georgia Anne Gay; sons, Scotty R. Gay Jr., Curtis L. (Brittany) Straka-Nuhibian; daughters, Jessica M. Nuhibian, Taylor A. Nuhibian; sister, Kelly Gay-Donovan; grandchildren, Gracie, Kenzie, Leland, Tanner, Paisley Rose, Maverick; niece, Kaylee Donovan and several aunts and uncles.

A Celebration of Scotty’s life will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at 10:30 am at Ferreira Funeral Services Chaffee Chapel with Chaplain Jim Cox officiating. Interment will follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery at 12:30 pm. The family will receive friends from 9:30 am – 10:30 am in the chapel.
