Celebrating the Life of Carl Wayne Corbin

"A Trojan Forever, A Soldier Always, A Legend Among Us"

Carl Wayne Corbin, 88, of Oklahoma City, OK, completed his earthly journey and entered eternal rest on March 9, 2025. Born on March 3, 1937, Carl was a man of deep devotion—to his family, his community, his country, and most certainly, his beloved Douglass High School. A proud member of the DHS Class of 1956, Carl embodied the spirit of a Trojan: resilient, dedicated, and forever loyal.

With an unwavering commitment to service, Carl answered the call of duty, enlisting in the United States Army in 1961. He served his country with honor until 1963 and continued his dedication in the Army Reserve for three more years. His discipline, strength, and sense of duty never wavered, traits that shaped the man his family and friends knew and admired.

Carl was a true sports aficionado, a walking encyclopedia of all things Oklahoma athletics. Whether it was high school football, college basketball, or a casual neighborhood game, Carl's passion for sports was unmatched. But nothing held his heart quite like his Douglass Trojans. He bled orange and black, cheering on his alma mater with pride that never faded. His voice, his energy, and his unforgettable catchphrase—*"That’s Cold-Blooded!"*—resonated in every conversation, leaving an imprint on all who had the honor of knowing him.

More than just a sports lover, Carl was the cornerstone of his family’s history. He carried their legacy in his heart and his words, ensuring that no story was lost, no lesson was forgotten. He spoke the names of his ancestors with reverence, reminding each generation to stand tall and walk in purpose.

Carl leaves behind a family who cherished him deeply: his daughters, **Chenedra Corbin Garnigan** and **Cynthia Adams Butts**; his siblings **Gloria Corbin-Wright** and **George Corbin**; and a host of loving cousins, including **Osa Brown, Carole Walker (Theodore), Keith Russell (Sabrina), Kristi Crawford (Adron), and Anthony Coleman (Loletta)**. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, **Dorothy Coleman Glover and Burness Corbin**, and his siblings, **Marilyn Corbin-Franklin, Maurice Corbin, Carol Corbin-Taylor, Cynthia Corbin, and Jeffery Corbin**.

Carl Wayne Corbin was a father, a brother, a soldier, a historian, a loyal friend, and an icon in his own right. He lived with passion, spoke with wisdom, and loved without condition. His legacy is not just in the stories he told but in the lives he touched.

As we say farewell, we do not mourn without hope. We celebrate a life well-lived, a love well-given, and a man who walked with purpose and pride. Rest well, Carl. Your name, your laughter, and your spirit will echo through the halls of Douglass, in the hearts of your family, and in the stands of every game where a Trojan takes the field.

"Well done, good and faithful servant... Enter into the joy of your Lord." – Matthew 25:23
