Donald "Dusty" Richard Rhodes, Sr.

Donald (Dusty) Richard Rhodes, Sr. passed away peacefully at the age of 94 in his home in Level Green, PA on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. He was the beloved husband of 42 years to the late Naomi (Krantz) Rhodes; loving father Donald (Paige) Rhodes and Sandy (Curtis) Svoboda; cherished grandfather to Dylan, Brandon, and Samantha; sister-in-law of Norma (late Jim) Ebright; dear special friend of Judy Ragan. Donald is preceded in death by his parents, Harry John Rhodes, Sr. and Naomi Rhodes; stepmother, Ruth (Kindler) Rhodes; and Brother, Harry John Rhodes, Jr. 

Dusty was born and raised in Turtle Creek and graduated from Turtle Creek High School. He went on to work for the Westinghouse Air Brake as a machinist before being called up to serve in the Army in the Korean war. He returned to WABCO where he rose through the ranks to become the Manager of Customer Service. Upon retiring from WABCO he worked for the American Production and Inventory Control Society and to serve on the Compass Savings Bank Board of Directors for 30+ years. Dusty was a fan of all Pittsburgh sports and an avid golfer. He played golf weekly even into his early 90’s and was proud of his five Holes-in-One and being able to shoot his age! Dusty was happiest when spending time with his family and friends. He thoroughly enjoying watching his grandkids in their various activities - hockey, dance, cheerleading, working on cars, and helping his grandson become an Eagle Scout. Dusty always appreciated a good laugh and knew that life required not only an unfailing sense of personal responsibility, integrity, honesty, and generosity, but also humor and grace. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the Hope Hospice caregivers who have taken such wonderful care of Dusty the last 18 months.

Friends and family will be received Monday, March 17, 2025, 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the JOBE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC., 118 Shaw Avenue, Turtle Creek (412-823-1950), where a blessing service will be held on March 18, 2025, at 11:00 am.
