Geraldine "Skacy" Ingram Obituary

Geraldine Ingram, better known as “Skacy” was born on November 12, 1945, in Orange County, NC. She was the beloved daughter of Waymond T. Harris and Sallie Ingram. She was called home to be with the Lord on March 9, 2025, in Phoenix, AZ.

After the passing of her father, she was cared for by her paternal grandmother Ms. Maria Harris. When her grandmother’s health declined she was adopted by her Uncle Herman and his wife Lillian. Skacy attended Lincoln High School before graduating from Chapel Hill High School Class of 1967. She began a career in nursing at NC Memorial Hospital as a nurse’s aide. She then decided to work for herself as a child caregiver and foster parent for several families and relatives.

Skacy loved traveling, sewing and most of all music. She hosted several parties and cookouts at her home. She was an avid sports fan and loved her UNC Tar Heels and Dallas Cowboys. She could be seen cheering, coaching and even refereeing the games with passion. She enjoyed teasing her sister Laura if the Cowboys beat Laura’s Redskins and her grandson Adrian if UNC was to beat his Duke Blue Devils. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she was a faithful member until her health declined. She served on the Usher Board, was a Vacation Bible School Teacher and a proud member of The J.R. Burt Young Adult Choir.

Skacy was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary E. Evans, Inez Ramsey and Dillie Atwater and brother James E. Alston Jr.

She leaves her precious memories to be cherished by four sons: Rodney (Sheila), of  Phoenix, AZ; Waymond (Moe) Ingram of the home, Tony (Debbie) Noel of  Chapel Hill, NC and Melvin Pierce of Charlotte NC; sister, Laura Fearrington of Chapel Hill, NC; ten grandchildren, Joshua, known to his Granny as “Punkin”, also served as a faithful caregiver, Latarsha, Juwanna, Eboni, Latesha, Adrian (Sarah), Shakye, Twyla, Romeo, who at an early was raised by Mama Skacy, and Nevaeh; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
