Roberta L. Bates, 88, passed away on Sunday March 9th at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT. She resided on Abbott Street Extension in Hoosick Falls, NY. Roberta’s husband Arnold Bates passed several years ago.

Roberta was born on July 26, 1936, in Seattle, Washington, daughter of the late James R. and Deloris (Day) Sharp. She attended schools in Seattle. Roberta was employed at Eveready Battery Company in Bennington, VT.

Survivors include her children daughters, Roberta LaRoche, Kathleen Griffin, Rose Michaels, Shirley Calhoun, sons Ernest Bates, James Bates, sisters Anita Connors, Nina Zui, Hope Lacey, brother Bill Lacey also many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren. Roberta is predeceased by her daughter’s Marjorie Stack, Charlene Baker, and sister Ruth Cinquegrani.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the care of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to either Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Shriner’s Hospital through the funeral home.
