Bobbie Jacquelyn Wright Godsey, 86, of Mt. Sterling, KY, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of the late Ken Godsey and a cherished mother to four children, Ken (Theresa) Godsey, David (Lynn) Godsey, Donna (Norm) Mudd, and John (Kim) Godsey.
Bobbie was known as Nannie to 8 grandchildren: Matt (Leah), Brandon (Tess), Jennifer (David), Samantha (Jason), Adam, Ben (Courtney), Emily (Quinn) and Brady, and 5 great grandchildren: Lyam, Asa, Ezra, Milo and Ford. She is also survived by brother-in-law, Jim Fryman, stepbrother, John Jones, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other dear family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Dillis Wright Jones, brother, Roger Wright and granddaughter, Shannon Mudd.
Bobbie will be remembered for her quick wit, sassy comebacks and sharp sense of humor. She loved watching Hallmark movies and spending time with her family. Baking, crocheting and shopping were some of her passions. She was well known for her rum cakes, cookies, pies and fruit salad. She crocheted enough blankets to keep every baby warm for the next
few generations. When it came to shopping, it was often said that she would literally touch every piece of clothing as she made a single pass through the store.
There are no words to express how grateful we are to the ones who cared for our mother and our family these past few months, both at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lexington and Bluegrass Care Navigators. We have no doubt that she is celebrating in Heaven with Dad, Pepa, Uncle Roger, and her beloved Aunt Ruth (Richard) Mital, who served as a best friend and second mother, all whom she missed so deeply.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the Pine Knot Cemetery in McCreary County, with a Celebration of Life to follow at the Hartland Clubhouse in Lexington.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate your prayers during this difficult time, or donations made in Bobbie’s memory to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Bluegrass.
Care Cremation and Funeral Service is honored to be entrusted with final care.
