Raydell Lamar Bigsby left us too soon on March 9, 2025, at the age of 61 at St. Joseph Hospital., Lexington, Ky He was born on January 1, 1964, in Lexington, Kentucky, to the late Robert Earl Bigsby Sr. and Wilma Frances Morton. Raydell was a devoted family man whose kindness and laughter brightened every room.

He dedicated his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at Gomez Temple Ame Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was a hardworking individual who enjoyed fishing, woodwork, welding, making clocks, taking photos,. and building things. He really loved working with his hands. He loved clothes, cars, and loved caring and doing for others, especially the love of his life, Betty. He was an incredibly talented man. He found joy in displaying photos of his family throughout their home, and daily conversations with his uncles, Furaqan and Tommy.

Over the years, Raydell worked numerous jobs, taking particular pride in his time with The Coca-Cola Company and Man O' War Ford. Outside of work, he loved spending time with his family and friends. He met the love of his life, Betty Grigsby, at Cracker Barrel, in 1983. Together, they welcomed one cherished son, Little Raydell, whose birth was the greatest gift he ever received aside from the birth of his grandchildren.

To my King

- God could not have blessed me with a better mate. You were such a caring man, always ensuring that EVERYONE was happy. You were always thoughtful. Kind, and strong, are just a few words I would use to describe you. I want to thank God for 42 wonderful years that he blessed me with you.

Until we meet again,

Your Queen – Betty

- My Father always told me to lead and never follow. I was raised to always give respect, carry myself with class, and to never look down on others. Through 39 years of life, I’ve been blessed to be guided by a man who not only told me how to carry myself but showed me as well. Words can’t express how the loss of my father has affected the beat of my heart. My Father was a man with a heart of gold. No matter who was in need, he was always one phone call away. I’m so thankful that God blessed me with the greatest example of man I have ever known. The thing I will remember most about my father is that he always put the wellbeing of others before himself. The way he took care of my mother shows just that. Thank you, Daddy, for always being here for me no matter what. You will forever hold a place in my heart, so I know I will be ok. With my God and my loving family here to support me I know I will be strong like I know you would want me to be. Everything you taught me is all I need to see it through. I know you told me to lead and never follow, but just know I’m going to follow your lead. I love you Pops.

Love your son,

Little Raydell.
