It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Herman "Denny" Zornes 72, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2025.
He was a loving hardworking husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and neighbor. Born on June 24th,1952, in Charleston WV to the late Clarence and Ruhamie Estepp Zornes of Ameagle WV.
Meeting his wife Vera as a teenager, they shared 52 years of marriage and 6 years of dating together and raised two children together.
He loved sharing stories of his time as a child and young teenager with his family. Had a love for classic cars. He was a very straightforward man. He was always the type of person that put the needs of others ahead of his own. He began working at the age of 12. He worked hard his whole life. Always providing for his family. On his days off he was either fixing things at the house or he was helping friends and neighbors out that needed him. Even in his time of illness he still tried to fix things on his own. He could sit and tell you ·exactly from memory how to fix a miner, build a house, fix a vehicle and just by the description of a sound he could tell you what was wrong. If dad could not fix it, no one could.
His passing is preceded by his father Clarence Zornes and mother Ruhamie Estepp Zornes of Amegale WV. Two sisters, Joyce (Richard) Barrett of IN and Bonnie (Bob) Shaffer of Clear Fork WV. A brother and sister he never met that died at birth, David Zornes of Ameagle. Father and Mother-in-law, Troy and Lottie Stewart of Naoma WV. Also, a special friend Raymond Jarrell of Naoma WV. We would have given anything to see the smile on his face when he met them on the other side.
Special thanks to Jerry Brown for always coming to the house and praying with dad. Denny was saved and he let us know he was. Also, a special thanks to UK Chandler Hospital and CAMC Memorial Hospital for the amazing care.
He left behind a wife Vera Stewart Zornes of Naoma WV. Son Brian Denny Zornes (Ashley) of Holly Hills. Daughter Amanda Kay Zornes Foster (Jeremy) of Naoma. His grandchildren, Haley Kaylynn Lively (Gavin Altice), Jeremiah Brian Foster, Sophie Kaylynn Zornes, and Lucas James Zornes. Special Neice Amy (Jeremy) Burgess of Clear Fork. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Special Friend Earnie Thompson, who never let him down.
I remember daddy's hands working till they bled. Sacrificed unselfishly just to keep us fed. If I could do things over, I would live my life again. Never take for granted the love in daddy's hands. There was always love in daddy's hands. Until we meet again, our hearts will never be the same.
There will be no service, Denny's request was for cremation only.
