Judith Kanter Hill, 85, of Saint Simons Island, Georgia, passed away on March 9, 2025, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Born March 1, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Jerome and Harriet Kanter, Judith grew up in Palos Park, Illinois and graduated from Carl Sandberg High School in 1958.
She went on to earn an associate’s degree from Lindenwood College in Missouri in 1960. She worked in a law office before dedicating herself to raising her two children. Judith married her high school sweetheart, Mark Gaines Hill, in 1962. They raised their family across the country, retiring in North Carolina and later moving to Saint Simons Island, where Judith explored her love for art, antiques, quilting, and rug hooking.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Heidi, in November of 1973 and her husband, Mark, in October 2017.
She is survived by her son, Peter Hill (Stephanie); grandson, Joshua Hill (Alyssa); granddaughter, Hannah Hill; and four great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Hudson, Addison, and Theodore Hill; her brother, Michael Kanter (Peggy); and nieces, Bryn DeFusco and Jordan Barfield.
Judith and Mark will be interred together in their family plot with their daughter, Heidi, in Laurel, Mississippi.
