James G. Bittle, 81 of Cottage Grove, OR died November 11, 2018. He was born February 22, 1937 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to parents Claude and Ethel (Potter) Bittle. He attended Oakland high school and Graduated in 1955, then attending Laney College earning his journeyman in the sheet metal trade. James served in the National Guard for 8 years. He married Barbara Grant, July 15, 1961 in Reno Nevada. James and Barbara Iived in Pinole and Benicia, California before moving to Cottage Grove, in the early 1990s. James was a master carpenter, building his own home. He enjoyed making Bonsais, doing tai chi, reading, working out, and reading his bible like a treasure map. His most recent focus was spending time with his family. James is survived by his son Jon Michel Bittle of Cottage Grove; daughter Rhonda Jean Bittle of Cottage Grove; sister Margie Morgan of Mobley, MI; 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara 2009, and brother Ray Bittle. A funeral was held Friday, November 16, 2018 at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral chapel, Cottage Grove.
