Sheila Kay Gann, age 73, of El Dorado, Kansas, peacefully went home to her Lord and Savior on March 9, 2025, at her home surrounded by loved ones. Sheila was born on March 24, 1951, in El Dorado, Kansas, to Troy and Betty (Eastin) Smith. She was a 1969 graduate of Circle High School and went on to work as a secretary at Albert Hogoboom Trucking for many years.
Sheila’s life was filled with love, laughter, and an undeniable zest for life. She married James Holding on March 26, 2023, in El Dorado, Kansas. Sheila cherished her time spent with family, especially as the best aunt to her nieces and nephews, and she was known for her unwavering love and support. Her greatest joy was spending time with those she loved, and she always made family gatherings unforgettable.
A true fan of sports, Sheila was a dedicated supporter of the KU basketball team and the Kansas City Chiefs. She found joy in cheering them on, celebrating their victories with enthusiasm. Sheila also enjoyed frequent visits to the casino and treasured her trips to Las Vegas.
In her later years, Sheila’s faith grew stronger, and she was baptized as a Catholic on Ash Wednesday, March 5, 2025. This milestone marked the beginning of a new chapter in her spiritual journey, which she embraced with peace and devotion.
Sheila is survived by her loving sisters, Marsha Moore and Cindy Carson; nieces and nephews, Andrea Sewell, Jamie Moore, Troy Carson, Seth Carson, and Megan Tetuan; as well as four great nephews and one great niece. She is preceded in death by her parents, Troy and Betty Smith; her husband, James Holding; and her brothers-in-law, Jim Moore and John Carson.
A Rosary Vigil will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in El Dorado, followed by a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM. Sheila will be laid to rest in Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Susan B. Allen Cancer Center in El Dorado, a place that help Sheila and other family members through a difficult walk in life.
