Cynthia K. Tymoff Obituary

Cynthia K. Tymoff died in comfort, surrounded by her family and love on 9 March 2025, as a result of Lewy body dementia.


Cyndi was born on August 27th 1950, in Shreveport, LA, to Ridgley D. and Elsa C. Kemp.


She was predeceased in death by her parents, and Robert J. and Catherine W. Tymoff, her sister, Nancy J. Kemp, and her sister-in-law Elizabeth T. Waller.


She is survived by her husband, John S. Tymoff, sons Christopher and Michael, daughters-in-law Wendy and Logan, and her four grandchildren, Dylan, Stella, Dahlia and Hudson. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Cathy T. Marzella and husband Nick.


She lived in Puerto Rico, California, Hawaii, Alexandria, VA, and Copenhagen, Denmark.


She graduated at the top of her high school class from The Copenhagen International School. She attended Virginia Tech and majored in mathematics and computer science. Her sophomore year, she taught Honors Calculus.


Cyndi started her professional career with Virginia National Bank in the Data Center and rose to Executive Vice President - Technology with Bank of America. She led all of the bank’s technology mergers and acquisitions, from VNB, Sovran, CS Sovran, NationsBank, to BoA.


She was on the board of directors for First Tee of Hampton Roads, Community and Schools, and past President of CPLGA.


Cyndi was passionate about family, education, travel, art, ballet, reading, cooking, and gardening.


Her competitive nature started early as a swimmer. She qualified for the Junior Olympics in breast stroke and butterfly. She played tennis and soccer and was an avid skier. Her major love, though, was golf. She was also a team mom, scorer, and assistant coach in little league baseball, football, and soccer for her two sons.


A private family service will be held at a later date.
