Janice Marie Chebra Obituary

Janice Marie Chebra, age 88, passed away March 9, 2025, at Concord Ridge Health & Rehab Center in Concord Township.  She was born January 3, 1937, in Painesville to Lee W. Taylor and Ruth (McCabe) Taylor.

Janice was a devout Catholic and was very proud of her Irish heritage.   She was a big Cleveland sports fan and especially loved the Cleveland Indians. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and her pet animals over the years.

Janice was a registered nurse, graduating from St. Vincent Charity Hospital nursing school, and worked for Lake East Hospital in Painesville most of her career.

Janice is survived by her children, John (Jayne) Chebra, Jeffrey Chebra, Jennifer Wojtaszek and Joanna (Chris) Schwartz; grandchildren, Jessica Chebra, Jacob Wojtaszek, and Ian Schwartz; and many nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Chebra, whom she married on January 2, 1965; brother, Lee Taylor; her sister, Margaret Widener and her parents.

Friends will be received 5:00 – 8:00 PM, Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 312 Eagle Street, Fairport Harbor, Ohio.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, March 13, 2025, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church 316 Fifth Street, Fairport Harbor.  PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH.  Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Painesville.

The family would like to thank her caregivers at Concord Ridge, Bella Hospice, and Hospice of the Western Reserve, especially Becky and Miriam.

Contributions in Janice’s memory may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve or to St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Fairport Harbor.
