Bonez Mills

STERLING - Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother, Bonez (Bonnie) Mills sadly passed away on March 9th, 2025, at the age of 76, surrounded by loving family in her final moments at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL.

Bonnie was born August 3rd, 1948 in Beckley, WV. to Willie and Glenna Peppers. She married Lanny Mills on August 20th, 1966 in Rock Falls, IL. Together they raised two daughters, Kari and Teri. Bonnie attended Sauk Valley Community College and obtained her LPN in 1992, dedicating herself to helping others at KSB Hospital in Dixon, IL. later retiring after many years of service.

Her greatest treasures in life were her two daughters, three grandchildren, and great-grandson. Her life was enriched with creating memories of fun-filled family vacations and get-togethers. Bonnie’s greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her laughter was contagious and always filled the room. Bonnie carried with her a strong faith that was reflected by her years of teaching Sunday school and working with the youth. She and Lanny were members of Como Baptist Church and later attended Harvest Time Bible Church in Rock Falls. She will be remembered by her family and all whose lives she touched for her kind spirit and generous heart. Full of love, laughter, and resilience, she touched the lives of all who knew her. Her absence leaves a void in all of our hearts.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her father and mother, Willie and Glenna Peppers, of Sterling, IL. One sister, Linda (Peppers) Riley, of Florida.

Those left to carry on her memory include her loving husband, Lanny, of 58 years of Sterling, IL. Daughters, Kari (Tim) Mills-Mossholder of Dixon, IL. and Teri (Clinton) Shaw of Sterling, IL. Grandchildren, Tori (Nate) Bierdeman of Dixon, IL., Tyler Shaw of Denver, CO., and Hunter Shaw of Sterling, IL. Great-grandson, Wren Bierdeman, of Dixon, IL.

Services will be private and officiated by Brother Dalmus Meeks. Arrangements were made by McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls, IL. A memorial has been established.
