EUGENE ‘GENE’ BOSS

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Gene Boss, age 84 of Muscatine, passed away at home on March 9th, 2025.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, March 14th, 2025, at Calvary Church in Muscatine. Pastor Dan Schoepf will officiate the Celebration. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. All are invited to a luncheon at Calvary afterwards. Family will be available before and after the Celebration to visit. Memorials may be made to Calvary for Missions. Gene had travelled to Guatemala and Liberia on Mission trips and loved to support those sharing the Gospel all over the World.

Gene was born on December 30, 1940, in Iowa City to parents Arthur E. Boss and Alice (Christensen) Boss.

Gene had six sisters: Margaret, Beverly, Donna, Phyllis, Mary Ann and Susie. Gene's family moved to Cedar Rapids shortly after he was born. He graduated from Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids. After living in Colorado for a few years he moved to Muscatine. He worked for GPC for almost 35 years in Research and Development. He loved his job and enjoyed working with his fellow workers. He retired in 2003 and then enjoyed travelling with his wife, Vicki. They travelled to all 50 states with Gene doing almost all the driving. He loved visiting all the National Parks. They travelled to Israel, Liberia, Peru, Ecuador, Galapagos Islands, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, and Mexico. Gene loved people and did not know a stranger. He especially loved the little kids at church. He was a member of Calvary in Muscatine and had accepted Christ as his Savior in his young adult years. He was a student of the Bible and was looking forward to going to Heaven and seeing Jesus face to face.  

Gene is survived by his wife, Vicki, four sons, Dan (Shellie) Boss, Mike Boss, Jon (Mina) Boss and Frank (Lisa) Hoins, special nephew Glenn Peterson, three sisters, Donna Powell, Mary Ann Fye, Susie Vaughn and many nieces and nephews. He had seven grandchildren, Krista Boss, Matthew Boss, Naomi Boss (Sam Potter), Anna Boss (Eddie Sandoval), Erina Boss, John Hoins, and Ben Hoins (Liz Murray) and four great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Jayce, Mateo, Ollie and mother, Sydnee Hampton.
