Margie Dixon Spain Obituary

Greenville - Margie D. Spain passed away peacefully from this life into the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus on March 9th, 2025.


The funeral service will be held in the Mausoleum at Pinewood Memorial Park on Wednesday at 4pm.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the mausoleum and other times at the home of Debbie Tyson.


Margie was the daughter of the late Wesley G. Dixon and Maybell E. Dixon of Grimesland, NC. She spent the last 45 years in the Eastern Pines area of Greenville, NC. She worked for 26 years at Burroughs Wellcome until her retirement. She was a founding member of the Potter's Place Church of God where she taught Sunday School to the adult class. She was gifted in many ways with painting and floral design, helping and gifting so many people with her art.


She was a loving mother and grandmother "Nannie".


Margie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jimmy M. Spain of 55 years; son, Danny M. Spain; sisters, Dorothy D. Long of Alabama and Mary D. Rodgers of Greenville, NC; and brothers, Dick, Bill, Bob, Tom, and Dalton (Peewee) Dixon of Greenville, NC.


She is survived by her daughter, Debbie S. Tyson; son, Rev. Brent Dixon and wife Lori B. Dixon; and daughter-in-law, Sherry Spain Pilgreen and husband, Robert Pilgreen; grandchildren, Danielle Staats and husband, Bill Staats, Hunter Dixon and wife, Kelly, Zack Tyson and wife, Indi, and Collin Tyson; great grandchildren, Westlyn Tyson, Eli Dixon, and Reagan Dixon. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Frances Dixon and Mary Ann Dixon of Grimesland, NC.


Margie loved to travel with her husband in her younger years, she spent many hours working to help others, giving in every way she could. Her heart was a true giver and lover of God's people. She worked closely with Rev. Brent Dixon at the Potter's Place Church in every area or where she was needed. She will be truly missed by all who knew her and loved her.


Heaven has truly gained a special angel.
