Carol L. (Hull) Bates Stemmler, 84 wife of Byron L. (Barry) Stemmler of Blairsville passed away March 9, 2025, in her home after a short battle with brain cancer.  She was a graduate of Derry Area High School class of 1958 and was retired in 2000 from Torrance State Hospital after 22 years of service.  Carol was preceded in death by her parents Elwood and Nellie (Gray) Hull, her son Troy M. Bates, her stepson Jeffrey A. Stemmler and her great grandson Griffin A. Stemmler.  In addition to her loving husband of 24 years, Carol is survived by her beloved son Mark A. and Vanessa Bates of Derry, her stepson Gary L. and Janet Stemmler of Blairsville, and the following grandchildren:  Nathan, Anna Lee, and Lucas Bates, and Brandon, Kirra and Nicholas and Carly Stemmler, her great grandchildren Sofie. Ryder, Jareth and Riley and her brothers and sisters in law Jerry and Connie Stemmler, Gib and Terry Stemmler and Betty Jean and Bob Smith and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and her precious lapdog Maggie.  Carol could be found working among her flowers year round, both in her summer home in Blairsville and her winter home in Sharpes, Florida.  She enjoyed crocheting and is known for her many gifts of baby sets and afghans.  What brought the most joy to her was her family and being surrounded by her grandchildren.  If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, P.O.
