Joan Lois Marling, 88, born on February 21, 1937, in Clouston, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2025, at Cameron Healthcare Center in Cameron, West Virginia. Joan bravely fought a courageous battle with cancer for over 30 years, demonstrating strength and determination throughout her journey.

Joan dedicated her life to caring for others, serving as a Registered Nurse at Northwood Health Systems in Wheeling, WV. Her career was marked by compassion and commitment, and she took great pride in her work.

Joan lived a simple life, holding family close to her heart. She cherished her role as a mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and her legacy is one of love and resilience.

She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Albert Wendell Phillippi and Marjorie (Phillips) Allison; daughter, Alice Pyles; and great-granddaughter, Carson Marling. Joan’s memory will continue to be honored by her surviving family: daughter, Kathy Crittenden, and son, Brian (Lori) Marling. She also leaves behind her sister, Shirley Redd; grandchildren Tory (Curt) Rundle, Joseph Crittenden, Kyle (Rob) Marling, Hannah Pyles, and Scott (Jessica) Marling; and great-grandchildren Diem Marling, Lochlan Crittenden, Gryff Rundle, and Talen Marling.

Fulfilling Joan’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or services. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Altmeyer Funeral Homes, Lutes & Kirby Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Avenue, Moundsville, WV.
