Frances Elliott Messer Obituary

Frances Elliott Messer, loving wife and sister passed away peacefully in Winchester on Sunday, March 9, 2025 from pancreatic cancer. Frances was born on November 28, 1940 in Elliott County to the late Harold W. and Pauline Elliott.


Frances is survived by her husband of 43 years Henry D. (Buddy) Messer. Frances is survived by two siblings, Brenda Wagner and Harold Lynne Elliott; four step children, Gina Holstein (Tom), Danny Dye (Lisa) and Robbin King and Bill Messer (deceased). Frances is survived by niece and nephews: Whitney Grome, John “Todd” Howard and Harold Lynn Elliott, Jr. Frances retired from the U.S. Government, where she was last stationed at the Army Depot in Richmond. She enjoyed time with her sister traveling to Tennessee several times a year. Frances had many friends in Winchester and the surrounding counties. She will be remembered as a loving, kind and generous wife, sister, step-mother and friend.


Services will be held at Scobee Funeral Home, Winchester, KY on Thursday, March 13th. Visitation from 1:00-2:30pm. Services will be held at 2:30pm.
