Margaret Glenn Leidig Browne peacefully passed away March 4 at NewAldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls Iowa.
Margaret was born December 28, 1949 to Dale and Virginia Leidig in Carmel, California. Margaret married Robert Clifford Browne of Binghamton, New York on August 18th 1973 at her parent’s home in Carmel California. Margaret and Robert spent the first 14 years together living in Huntington Beach and Salina, California before moving to Dubuque, Iowa, where Robert pursued his career as a Lutheran Minister. After Iowa, Margaret, Robert, and their children; Jennifer, Heather, and Michael, moved to Fairfax, Virginia where Robert continued his doctrine. Margaret and her family returned to Dubuque and stayed there until Robert got the call to be the Pastor at Zion Lutheran Church in Readlyn, Iowa. While in Readlyn, Margaret was very involved in the church, its organizations, and made many friends whose lives she touched for many years to come. After Readlyn, Margaret and Robert moved to Waterloo, Iowa where Robert became the Youth and Associate Pastor at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Waterloo, Iowa. Margaret again was involved with the church, its organizations, and touched many lives that she meet through the church. Margaret spent many happy hours spending time with her family and friends. She loved the beach, traveling, going out to eat with friends and family, watching the Kentucky Derby, and just enjoying life and all it had to offer. Margaret touched the lives of many people who will always remember her for her infectious laugh and kind heart.
Margaret is survived by her brother Brian D. (Sara) Leidig of Redding, California; her daughter, Jennifer N. (Ben) Horton of Uffcott, England; her daughter, Heather L. (Ben) Neil of Denver, Iowa; her son, Michael R. Browne of Waterloo, Iowa; her step daughter, Robbie Espinosa of Henderson, Nevada; thirteen grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Virginia Leidig of Carmel, California; her husband, Robert Browne of Waterloo, Iowa; and her son-in-law, Tony Espinosa.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at 1:30 p.m. on April 26th at Zion Lutheran Church in Readlyn with a social gathering afterward at Prairie Links Golf Course in Waverly. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Retrieving Freedom, The Wounded Warrior Project, or The Monterey Bay Aquarium.
