Carl Hays Snider, age 76, of Yulee, Florida and formerly of Troy, OH, passed away Friday, February 14, 2025, at the University of Florida Health North in Jacksonville, FL, following a short illness. He was born August 26, 1948, to the late Paul H. and Mabel (Mullen) Snider.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Frost Snider, sister Linda Sue (Suzy) Snider, and nephew, Brian Paul Lacy.

Carl is survived by his wife of sixteen years, Sandi Finn Snider of Yulee, FL, sisters, Paula Kay (Katy) Snider, of Troy, OH, and Betty Lou Lacy of Tulsa, OK, stepson Jason Haus of Yulee, FL, grandchildren, Emma, Ivery and Xavior Haus and several nieces and nephews.

Carl was a 1967 graduate of Troy High School and served in the United States Navy in Vietnam. He was aboard the guided missile cruiser, USS Springfield. In 2021, he retired after 30 years from JEA (Jacksonville Electric Authority).

Following in his grandfather and father’s footsteps, Carl was an avid fisherman and enjoyed membership in several Ohio and Florida Bassmaster Clubs, most recently in the North Florida Christian Bass Club. One of his greatest joys was competition tournament fishing with his stepson and youngest grandson, who just turned sixteen competing in his first adult tournament. Carl known as “Uncle Carl” at southern NASCAR tracts was formerly crew chief for Buddy Massengill racing in Jacksonville, FL.

Carl loved Ohio State Football, often wearing an OSU baseball hat and enjoying the banter when OSU played Florida teams.

He was a member of the Celebration Assembly of God Church in Yulee, FL and active in the men’s ministry.

Memorial services will be held at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy, OH on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 6:30pm, officiated by Pastor William Maki of First Lutheran Church, Troy, OH. Visitation will be from 5:30pm-6:30pm. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery on Friday, March 28, 2025, at 11:00 am with military honors provided by the Veteran’s Memorial Honor Guard, Troy, OH.
