Jordan J. Carreira Obituary

With deep sadness and immense love, we announce the unexpected passing of Jordan J. Carreira on Friday, February 14, 2025, who had his devoted wife, Laura Dowaliby, by his side. He was born in Westerly, RI to the late Jordan Sr. and Dorothy (Amaral) Carreira, he grew up in a close, loving family in Stonington, CT, surrounded by many aunts, uncles, and cousins—always playing any and every kind of sport.

After graduating from Central Connecticut State College, Jordan began a long and distinguished career in the insurance industry, starting as a junior underwriter at Cigna and rising to Vice President and Chief Underwriter at Lincoln Financial. Even after retirement, he continued sharing his expertise as a consultant with VIBE Insurance Services at The Ridgeback Group. If you needed the best, you went to him. And if you were lucky enough to know him, well, then you really hit the jackpot!

His true passion, however, was golf—he played every chance he got and even had not one, but two unbelievable holes-in-one! He also loved every moment of baseball and football season, cheering on his beloved Boston Red Sox and New York Giants.

Above all, his greatest pride and joy were his four gorgeous grandkids—Colton, Hayden, Quinn, and Sydney Carreira—who absolutely adored him and called him ‘Big Papi!’ His sons Mike and Tim, daughters-in-law Jess and Maura, and his beautiful wife Laura, were his everything.

Jordan also leaves behind his beloved sister Jeannine and her husband John Charest, their daughter Jenifer, and her sons Patrick and Dillon Dooley. He also remained close with his former wife Caroline and her husband Pete Dorian, who were always an important part of his life. Jordan is now reunited with his predeceased brother Jack Carreira.

He leaves behind a very large entourage of family and friends—too many to name—but trust us, they know who they are and just how much he loved them.

Calling hours and a Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 4th at Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, located at 443 East Street North (Rt. 159), Suffield, from 2:00 - 4:30 p.m. All who knew and loved Jordan are invited to share their memories of a super fantastic man who truly enjoyed life, lived it his way, and made us all laugh along the way.
