Wilston James Hewitt Obituary

Wilston James Hewitt, a cherished soul known for his infectious humor and friendly demeanor, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on August 9, 1931, in Manchester, JA, to the late Grace and George Hewitt, Wilston's life was a testament to the joy and camaraderie he brought to every room he entered.

Wilston's journey through life was marked by his passion for cricket, which he played as a young man, traveling and sharing his love for the sport. His professional life included a talent for detailing cars, a skill at which he excelled and which brought him much fulfillment.

Wilston's interests extended beyond cricket. He possessed an exceptional sense of humor that could light up any conversation. His artistic side was often expressed through the seasonal painting of his porch every year, with a special, certain color that brought him joy. He found this activity both therapeutic and satisfying. This porch also served as a gathering spot where he would sit and engage with friends, family, and neighbors, always the sociable host.

Notably, Wilston had a sartorial flair that was evident in his impressive collection of suits. He took great pleasure in dressing up on Sundays, and his distinctive style was admired by many. This touch of elegance was just one aspect of his unique character that those who knew him will fondly remember.

In his passing, Wilston James Hewitt leaves behind a tapestry of memories that will continue to inspire and comfort his family and friends. His story is one of a life well-lived and well-loved, and he will be profoundly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He is preceded in death by his wife Delcinia Hewitt.  He leaves to cherish his sons: Gary Hewitt of Hartford, CT, Terry (Emily) Hewitt of Corpus Christi, TX, and Andy (Delinda) Hewitt of Sanford, NC. He was a proud grandfather to Andre Michael Hewitt of Charlotte, NC, Antwan Matthews, Chantal Matthews both of Hartford, CT, Amber Whitney Hewitt of Cary, NC, and Alexis Nicole Hewitt of Sandford, NC, and a host of other relatives and friends.

As we bid farewell to a man of such vivacity and charm, we celebrate the legacy he leaves behind-a legacy characterized by love, laughter, and the countless lives he touched.
