Joan Millicent Cartwright (Haskill), 74, of Belleville, passed away at the Belleville General Hospital on Friday, February 14, 2025. She was born on November 27, 1950, in Weston, Ontario.
Joan had a passion for sewing, quilting, knitting, and crocheting. She also never turned down a day at the casino or a Caesar. Those who had the privilege of knowing Joan were well aware of her unfiltered honesty, strong will, and sassy nature. She was a force to be reckoned with and will be deeply missed.
She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Jean, and her siblings, Rob and Sandra. She is survived by her children, Dawn (Chris), Wendy, and Bill (Mel). Joan took immense pride in her grandchildren: Cassie (Eric), Skyla (David), Shannon (Nat), Alexandra, Dawson (Tiffani), Reese, Hannah, and Carmen. She was overjoyed by the arrival of her great-grandchildren: Roran, Ashyr, Mira, Olivia-Lynn, and Elysian.
Cremation has been entrusted to Milestone Cremation Services. A Celebration of Joan’s Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations made to Toronto SickKids Hospital would be appreciated by the family. Joan contracted polio at the age of two and spent much of her childhood at SickKids, wholeheartedly believing in the care and work of the hospital. Online condolences, photos and memories can be shared at www.milestonecremation.ca.
Her strength, stubbornness, and sass will be remembered always.
