Karen Elaine Hendrickx, 78, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 14, 2025 at Valley Vista Care in St Maries, Idaho. She was born on November 16 1946 to Louis G and Emma L (Swan) Hendrickx in Tensed, Idaho. Karen was the youngest of 7 children born to Louis and Emma. She had one sister and 5 brothers. Karen attended school at the Catholic School in DeSmet, Idaho. Karen was a member of the Coeur d'Alene Tribe and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in DeSmet, Idaho.

Karen had 2 children. Jody Ray Hendrickx was born in 1971 and he was raised in St Maries, Idaho. Shannon Wavra was born in 1972 and she was adopted by loving parents. After she was grown, Shannon reunited with her mother Karen.

Karen lived her life the way she wanted. She loved her friends and family. Karen had a sense of humor and enjoyed teasing sometimes to the point of light sarcasm. You could always catch her at the Circle H Bar where she was surrounded by friends. She loved to go fishing and always stopped at Rocky Point to catch fish to take to her parents when she was on her way to visit them in Tensed, Idaho. She also enjoyed the Coeur d'Alene Casino. Karen loved butterflies and had them displayed all over her home.

Karen was married 2 times, 1968 and 1973. Both marriages were short and ended in divorce without children. Karen was proceeded in death by her parents, Louis and Emma, her brothers Joseph, Gale, Lyle, Russ, Terry and her sister Lolia.

Karen is survived by her son Jody (Cara) Hendrickx and her daughter Shannon. She is also survived by her grandkids Tayva (Doug) Massender, Caelan Hendrickx, Keith (Rayla) Armstrong and Matthew Vecera, and 3 great grandsons: Oliver, Oakley and Odin Armstrong.

A service will be held on Tuesday March 4th at 11am at the Coeur d'Alene Long House in Worley, Idaho.
