Gloria A. (Hebert) Kerr, 89, of Feeding Hills, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Care-One, Redstone in East Longmeadow. She was born August 26, 1935, to the late Raymond J. and Sylvia (Simpson) Hebert of West Springfield, MA. She later moved to Feeding Hills where she raised her family.
Gloria grew up in West Springfield and was a 1953 graduate of West Springfield High School. She worked at Third National Bank, as an office assistant at Pheasant Hill Housing and for many years, at the Agawam Federal Credit Union.
A woman of deep faith and spirit, she was characterized by all for her thoughtfulness, generosity, warm compassion for others and her sense of humor. Rarely did she miss a birthday, anniversary or graduation with a notecard or a phone call.
She so much enjoyed hosting the July 4th Kerr family picnics with Clarabelle the Clown and the lawnmower parades. Gloria also loved vacationing at Ames Farm Inn at Lake Winnipesaukee, at Sebago Lake, and at Ogunquit and Clearwater Beaches. Locally, cross country skiing and Friday night auctions in East Otis were activities she looked forward to. She also developed a passion for painting, crafts and watching the cardinals, hummingbirds and deer. Later in life she befriended her group of wives from the Holyoke Soldier’s Home, with whom she shared many rich experiences of trips, concerts, plays, birthday parties and laughs; she also loved her Silver Sneakers class and swimming pool aerobics.
As a devoted and loving grandmother of five, she enjoyed immense pride and rarely missed their sports events, academic milestones or other celebrations.
She was a long-time communicant of Hope Community Church and held great admiration for Pastor Brad, and her church family.
She was predeceased by her husband Douglas W. Kerr of 51 years, rejoining him on Valentine’s Day.
She is survived by her two loving sons Gary J. Kerr, and his wife Debra Maljanian-Kerr, of Somers, CT and Jeffrey R. Kerr, and his wife Ericka Wilson-Kerr, of Westfield. She also leaves her five cherished grandchildren, John, Ani, Drew (Skylar), Aram and Garrett. Gloria is also survived by her favorite cousin Jackie Recor of Bristol, CT and her very best friend of eighty years, Lois Castelli.
The family is eternally grateful to the staff and friends at Prosper Care-The Monastery and at Care-One Redstone; the family also acknowledges the many friends and relatives who visited Gloria during her illness. Additionally, thank you to Dr. Laura Gioiella and Dr. May Awkal for their special care and kindness.
Services will be held at Colonial Forastiere Funeral Home, 985 Main St., Agawam on Friday, February 28, 2025, with Visiting Hours from 9-11 a.m., with a Funeral Home Service at 11 a.m., then procession to Springfield St. Cemetery in Feeding Hills.
In remembrance of Gloria’s generous spirit and love for her church family, memorial gifts may be made to Hope Community Church, (Sunday School), 152 South Westfield St., Feeding Hills, MA, 01030.
