Terttu Ulla Fox (maiden Piippo) passed away peacefully on February 14th at the age of 85 in Marietta, GA.

She was born on February 21st, 1939, in Vierema, Finland.

Lovingly remembered by daughter Rebecca Fox Dorans and her husband David Dorans of Charlotte NC, son Juhani (John) Allen Fox and his wife Melissa Fox of Acworth GA, Grandchildren Elizabeth Rose Dorans, Kathryn Grace Dorans, Julianna Fox, Lauren Kate Fox, Tyler Fox, Samantha Fox and great grandchildren Nevelynn Burney and Ellawynn Burney.

Terttu’s life was an incredible journey. Born and raised in rural Finland, (Vierema) she began Nursing School in Helsinki, and later transferred to London, England to finalize her nursing degree in the early 1960’s.

While in England, she married a U.S. Air Force serviceman, and their daughter Rebecca was born there in 1964. After moving to the United States with her husband and infant daughter, her son Juhani (John) was born in St. Charles. MO in 1966. After a final move to Atlanta GA with her family in 1970, Terttu proudly completed the naturalization process and became a U.S. citizen. She left nursing and began a career as a graphics paper specialist. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends, especially introducing them to classic Finnish dishes she learned to make growing up.

She also loved listening to classical music, playing cards and fishing in the warm Georgia sunshine. Many of her friends also knew her as the luckiest BINGO winner ever.

In lieu of flowers and services, our mother’s wishes were charitable donations to Parkinson’s Foundation. We appreciate your kindness as a tribute in her memory.
