Melvin “Pete” Lee Tousley, 91 of Arkansas City died Friday, February 21, 2025 at Winfield Senior Living Center.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home in Arkansas City. Pastor Dennis Voth will officiate. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pete was born August 23, 1933 to Sterling “Punk” Tousley and Bessie Jane (Vaden in Winfield. He graduated from Dexter High School. On August 24, 1954 he married Wilma May Bishop in Cornith, MS. Pete was a welder and inspector. He was member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters #411 as a welder/pipefitter, Total Petroleum and also had his own business, Melvin Tousley Construction. Pete loved to golf, fish and hunt. He had a passion for racing. He and his brother, Ronnie had super-modified cars that later turned into drag racing

Pete is survived by his daughters, Deborah Oestmann and Marlin, Karen Staten and Buddy; brother, Ronnie Tousley all of Arkansas City; grandchildren, Bittney and Brad Hayes, Morgan Foust and Tanner, Beth Hunt and Aaron, Jared Staten and Cheyenne, Dustan Staten and Jessicah, Kyle Oestmann and Sarah Oestmann; 20 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; granddaughter, Kristi Dyke and grandson, Deacon Staten.

Memorials have been made with Cowley County Humane Society or Arkansas City Rec Center. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
