Roland “Sam” Woebbeking , 85, a lifelong resident of Woodburn, IN passed away on Saturday Feb. 3rd at The Cedars Assisted Care in Leo, IN. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Norma who he showed his loving devotion and became her primary caregiver these last several years. He was a beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather and his friendly personality will be remembered by everyone who met him. Sam along with his daughters was very active in the Allen County 4-H Program showing steers and lambs. Sam was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church, Woodburn and along with his wife helped maintain the church. He served in the US Army, worked on his parent’s livestock farm, and was employed at Harvester for 25 years. He loved IU basketball, playing cards with friends and attending the grandkids sporting events. He is survived by three daughters, Michelle (Gary) Jury of Naples, FL, Kim (Dave) Rogers of Fort Wayne and Deanna (Mark) Cruz of Fort Wayne; 6 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren, Erika (Tom) Quinkert, Brent (Elizabeth) Wilson, Joel (Susie) Rogers, Amanda Cruz (Marques Johnson), Alex Rogers, Jordan (Ben) Parker, Erin (Ben) Murphy and Andrea (Geoff) Kuthe; 4 great-grandchildren and 4 step-great-grandchildren; his sister Virginia (Richard) Preston of Van Wert, OH and his brother Max (Ruth) Woebbeking of Woodburn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers Roger Woebbeking and Stanley Woebbeking and his sister Jeanette Dawson. Service is 11am Saturday, February 10 at Zion Lutheran Church 7616 Bull Rapids Rd Woodburn, IN with visitation one hour prior. Calling also from 4 to 7pm Friday, February 9 at Zion Lutheran Church, Woodburn, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church and the Worship for Shut-Ins.
