Deloma "Dee" Penrod Henderson Obituary

Deloma "Dee" Penrod Henderson passed away on February 14, 2025, in Austin, Texas. Born on June 5, 1939, in Pinetop, Arizona, Dee's life was filled with love, creativity, and kindness that touched everyone who knew her.

Dee's journey took her from the mountains of Pinetop to Mesa, where she graduated from Mesa High School and pursued nursing at Arizona State University. Her life took a beautiful turn when she met Charles Henderson at a dance. They married soon after and spent more than 67 years together, building a life of enduring love and partnership. Though Charles' service as a fighter pilot took him to Vietnam for a year, their bond remained unbreakable. As a military family, they moved often, creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and mutual respect wherever they went.

Dee was a devoted mother to Cindy Davis, Suzanne Ball and her husband Bill, Sherri Boatwright and her husband Chris, and Steven Henderson. Her heart expanded even further as she became a beloved grandmother to Joseph Hurst, Erin Ball, Jessica Ball, Ryan Ball, Tatum Martens and her husband Pearce, Shelby Scharnberg and her husband Jack, and her late granddaughter Megan Olson. She adored her great-grandchildren: William, Violet, Harper, Natalynn and Brianna.

For nearly four decades, Dee served as the Secretary to the Principal at Cunningham Elementary School, where her warmth, efficiency, and laughter became the heartbeat of the school. She left a lasting legacy of dedication and care that shaped countless young lives.

Dee was a master quilter whose intricate designs brought comfort to many, a talented painter who saw beauty in the world around her, and an amazing cook whose meals brought joy to everyone who gathered at her table. Her hands were rarely still, always creating, giving, and nurturing.

Those who knew Dee would describe her as loving, creative, and friendly-an embodiment of kindness that never waned. Her smile was a source of comfort, and her presence made every room feel warmer.

As we say goodbye to Deloma "Dee" Penrod Henderson, we celebrate a life beautifully lived. Her legacy of love, art, and friendship will continue to inspire and comfort those she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A very special thank you to Steven, her son, who lovingly cared for her over the past six years. We will always be grateful for the compassion and dedication you showed. She cherished the time you shared together. Heartfelt thanks also to Teri Mindieta, her angel over the past few years, and to JOL Hospice for their kind support.
