Norma Blackburn Neufell passed away peacefully on Friday February 14, 2025 at the age of 87. She was a resident at Cambridge Village in Wilmington, NC. She was the daughter of the late Ernest and Nellie (Duncan) Gill. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Thomas Neufell Sr. and her siblings Wilmer Gill, John Gill, Mary Gill, Laura Gill, Millie Casimano, Nellie Gill and Mabel Gill.
She is survived by her sister Sara Hudgins. Sons Tom Neufell Jr. (and his wife Jennifer), Joe Neufell, Mike Neufell and daughter Donna Neufell. Grandchildren Tara, John, Joe Jr, Casey, Matthew, Andrew, Ashley and Michael Thomas, and Great grand-daughter Aliyah. With so many siblings and relatives, her life will live on forever with those who loved her.
Norma grew up with her siblings on the family farm in Oxford, PA. She graduated from The Oxford Area High School and moved to Washington DC with her sisters. There is where she fell in love with Tom and established a career in the FBI. They started their family in a onebedroom apartment in Washington DC. As their love grew, they moved to Rockville MD,
where they raised their family. In addition to raising her children, Norma enjoyed singing in the church choir, bowling in her bowling league and her annual trip back to Oxford, PA to attend her alumni reunion. Norma also enjoyed trips to the Outer Banks with family.
Recently, Norma moved to Wilmington, NC to spent time with Tom Jr’s family. She loved and appreciated the kindness of everyone who called, visited, and helped her. She will be greatly missed by everyone she touched.
