William Frederick Starr Obituary

William “Bill” Frederick Starr, 76, of Medford, NJ, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Virtua W. Jersey Hospital, Marlton, NJ.

Born in Harrisburg, PA, he was the son of the late Robert Starr and Mary Clare Bossle Starr. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Maureen McFalls Starr, daughter Kelly Starr Spitzer, son-in-law Paul Spitzer, and beloved grandchildren Abigail, Charlie, and Brady. Bill is also survived by his brother Thomas (Carol) Starr, and sister Sarah (Tracey) Starr , as well as countless cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Allen Starr and sister Elizabeth Starr Knopka.

Bill grew up in Camp Hill, PA, and graduated from Trinity High School (1966), Villanova University (1972), and Drexel University (1981). He served in the U.S. Navy from 1969 to 1974, first stationed in San Diego before continuing in the Naval Reserves. Bill enjoyed a successful career in business, retiring from IBM in 2010. He also shared his expertise as an Adjunct Professor at Burlington County Community College until 2015.

Family was the cornerstone of Bill’s life. He had an extraordinary way of making every gathering special. Whether cheering on his grandchildren from the sidelines, capturing memories with his ever-present camera, or hosting pancake breakfasts and the beloved "Uncle Bill’s Poker Camp," Bill made sure to share his favorite moments with those he loved. His presence was the heart of our gatherings, filling them with warmth, joy, and countless cherished memories.  Bill was also a devoted Villanova Basketball fan and season ticket holder, who loved nothing more than sitting front and center in the Pavillion with dear friends and fellow Villanova classmates.

Bill had a deep passion for history. He actively researched and preserved the stories that mattered most to him. He dedicated countless hours to documenting the Starr and McFalls family histories, tracing military service across generations, and ensuring that even the most recent family milestones were recorded and celebrated. His meticulous research and storytelling kept the past alive, connecting our family to its roots and giving future generations a legacy to be proud of—something he took immense pride in.
