Zachary John Beachem, 32, passed away in Charlotte, North Carolina, on February 14, 2025. He was born in Chesapeake, Virginia, to John and Terry Beachem on March 19, 1992.

Zachary or Zach, as many knew him, loved baseball. He was a first baseman and left handed pitcher and played in both high school and college. Whether he was playing or watching the Atlanta Braves, Zach loved every moment he was around the game. 

Zach had a talent for breathing new life into something damaged and forgotten. This skill was evident when he practiced his passion of vintage clothing restoration. 

He was a graduate of Eastern Wayne High School, earned his Bachelor’s of Sports Medicine from Barton College, and a Masters in Occupational Safety from East Carolina University. 

He was very proud of being a triplet and spoke often to others of his siblings and their accomplishments. Zach loved his family and used them as motivation in all that he did. 

Zach was a leader and protector of others. He was unafraid to speak up for what was right and would go out of his way to help someone in need. He also loved with his whole heart and once he developed a passion, shared that passion with friends and strangers alike. 

His journey through life was one of strength and perseverance, and will be remembered by his unforgettable laugh, charming smile, and playful wit. 

Zach is survived by his best friend and dog Apollo; his brother, Tyler Beachem and wife, Savannah; sister, Megan Beachem; and his parents, John and Terry Beachem. He is predeceased by his grandparents, Ray and Evelyn Harris and Johnnie Beachem Sr. and Janie Bayly.

A service to celebrate Zach’s life will be held in late March at Namu, 5420 Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd, Durham. An announcement on the specific time and date will be published at a later date. If unable to attend the service in person, the family invites memories of Zach to be shared with the family directly.
