Knolly F. Marshall Obituary

Good day friends, We gather today to celebrate the life of Knolly Fermentus Marshall born on Wednesday 27th October 1954 and went to meet the Lord on Friday, 14th February 2025. As as part of his legacy he is survived by his wife Radica whom he shared 39 long and beautiful years of marriage, his two sons Randy and Gary; his 4 grandchildren Tyrique, Terell, Tishara and Aaliyah, and his daughter-in-law Coreen, all of whom he loved dearly.

Knolly was born to parents Peter and Vexilla Marshall, and had eight sisters namely Shirley, Janet, Merl, Rosetta,Linda (deceased), Carrol, Fedrica and Helen; along with two brothers, Kelvin and Andrew. Coming from such a large family in those days, he was fortunate to attend school up to the secondary level at the Palo Secondary School which later allowed him to secure a job at the Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago as an Estate Constable. He retired with the rank of Sergeant.

At his job, he would of served as the Workers Union Representative for many years, fighting for better working conditions and compensation for employees, many of whom may be enjoying better wages today but don’t have a clue who Knolly Marshall is.

He had a burning passion for 3 things, that is sports, politics and reading. I believe cricket and football was responsible for him being diagnosed with hypertension, politics came after and if I'm not mistaken, he probably was a member of and campaigned with every political party in Trinidad except the PNM. He loved to read, he would read any and everything, in fact while reading the daily newspaper one day, he saw an ad where the Fire Service was recruiting and encouraged me to sign up, and today I am a Fire Officer for the past 24 years.

Knolly was a people person, he was a well known man and any and everyone would come to him for advice and assistance with every and anything. He was a mediator and a conflict resolution specialist. Whenever there was family feuding, each party would come to him complaining, he would know just what to say to them to bring about calm and peace, while never being bias or taking sides. He worked hard to give his family the best possible life that he could.

But all that he was proud of, the most important and dearest accomplishment to him was when he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. His life was predestined for this because he started of in active ministry as an Evangelist and went about doing the work of the Lord with tremendous joy and enthusiasm. I remember whenever there were crusades, he would be the most busiest person,as he saw this as a golden opportunity to preach the gospel of Jesus, something he loved to do.

I would say he was a spiritually distinguished gentleman. He had a gift for understanding the operation of the spiritual realm and how it interacts with the physical world. He would often preach, teach and evangelise on this subject whenever given the chance without compromise or reservation.

He loved the Lord, and he was always humble and willing to do that which he was called into ministry to perform. He was later ordained as a Pastor and continued the work of the Lord in this capacity even while his health and strength was rapidly deteriorating.

So today friends while our hearts may be heavy because he is not with us no more, let us not be quick to rub him of his reward as a good and faithful servant that labored until this appointed time. As I said earlier, the Lords work was most important to him, and I’m sure that he would have had some sort of spiritual interaction with most of, if not all of us here today.

Let us now reflect on those many spiritual lessons he would of imparted unto us as he did it in love for you.

During his last days on earth, while caring for him, I would give him water or his meds and he would say thank you without end, and you could actually feel genuine gratitude in his voice. This was a lesson to me that giving thanks in every aspect of life is important. So let me stay in this vein and say thanks to a couple of people.

To his surviving siblings, thank you for being a loving and caring brother, sister, niece, nephew, aunt and uncle to him. He loved you all and prayed for your health and strength continually. To his in-laws, thank you for supporting him and welcoming him into the family and treating him as one of your own. He loved Indian food and you all ensured that he was well taken care of in that department.

To his friends and ex co-workers, thank you for your companionship, your patience and your concern for his well being throughout his life and even during his time of affliction. While I simply can’t name everyone, these names are worth mentioning as they were close and dear to him, Brother Kenny Peters, his ride or die partner, and his wife sister Carol Peters, and Mr. John Rene, thank you all for being his friend.

To the my aunt and uncle Indra and Toney and the entire Andrews family, thank you for caring for him in the way that you did. Indra and her family went all out and did all that they could to ensure his comfort in his time of pain, and they did it all without complaining not looking back for fortune or fame. To this I say thank you, your reward is sealed in heaven.

In closing I would say this, it’s almost impossible to not feel sad when a loved one passes, but let’s remember that tho weeping may endure for a night, we have joy to look forward to in the morning, joy in the fact that our brother is now enjoying the reward of his labour for the Lord. Yes he is absent in the flesh, but that simply means that he is ever present with the Lord, so let us celebrate the life times and the memory of Knolly Fermentus Marshall. Thank you.
