MECHANICVILLE – Christine A. Michaels, 77, of Roman Dr, died peacefully in the comfort of her home on February 14, 2025, after a 3 year battle with Parkinson’s disease. Born in Troy on May 8, 1947, daughter of the late Roman “Curly” and Wanda Markos Johnson, she was a 1965 graduate of Mechanicville High School, and later Plattsburgh University, where she received her teaching degree. Christine was a 6th Grade Math and Science teacher for the Shenendehowa School District for 33 years.
As a young woman, she enjoyed fishing with her husband John, the two of them even competed in a fishing tournament trail called “Guys and Gals”, where they captured a championship. She was also a member of a Karate class for several years. At home, she loved spending time on her computer, either researching or playing games. She also loved her dogs and cats through the years, most recently her pup Ralphie. Christine also enjoyed many trips to the casino with her mother and sisters throughout the years. Most of all, she cherished her son John S. Michaels Jr, whose passing in 2022 left a hole in her heart. His legacy lives on through his two sons Johnny and Jordy, both of whom Christine adored.
Survivors include her husband John S. Michaels, Sr, grandchildren John S Michaels, III and Jordan V. Michaels, sisters Linda Perez and Robin(Dennis) Ceremuga, her Michaels in laws, and several nieces and nephews.
Her family wishes to offer heartfelt thanks to her recent caregivers, Mary Jane and Anita, for allowing her to be able to stay in her home.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no calling hours and burial alongside her son will be held at the convenience of the family. A Celebration of Life will be held at the family home, 13 Roman Drive, Mechanicville, NY 12118 on March 8, 2025, starting at Noon.
