Helen will be deeply missed by her family and friends and all who were fortunate to know her. Mom was a strong, selfless, resilient and inspirational woman, even while overcoming breast and gallbladder cancer. She was filled with generosity and immense love for her family, that always put their needs and wants before her own, and continued to do so, right to the end. Helen’s door was continually open and welcome to everyone who walked into her home, with the smell of fresh baking. Whether it was buns, bread, apple strudel, jelly rolls or her famous homemade doughnuts, you always found her in the kitchen baking. Impromptu visits from family and friends on a Sunday afternoon were also frequent and welcomed. She was always prepared and made sure her company never left on an empty stomach. She enjoyed playing cards; either whist, hearts, or scat on Friday and Saturday evenings with those she held close and dear. Especially playing cards with her grandchildren, war, go fish, piggy and donkey. Her smile was contagious, infectious and beamed with light that would constantly melt your heart. Mom’s spirit, and boundless love will forever leave a lasting impression on all who knew her.
We would like to express our gratitude to the professional healthcare team at Sunset Special Care Home in her final days to ensure she was comfortable.
Respecting Helen’s wishes, there will not be a Funeral Service. A family Graveside Service will be held in Grenfell, SK at a later date.
Flowers are gratefully declined; however, donations may be made in Helen’s memory to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan.
