John Alston Nelson III, loving father, and grandfather, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025, at the age of 94. He was born on October 6, 1930, in Meridan, TX, Bosque County, to John and Ida (Porter) Nelson.

John was a 1948 graduate of Meridian High School. After high school, he left Meridan and moved to Dallas to find employment. It was here that he met his future wife, Margie, at a local Oak Cliff diner. He married Margie (Pavy) on June 7, 1954, and they celebrated 66 years of marriage until her death on July 9, 2020.

John was a loving father to his two daughters, displaying patience and strength. For 31 years, he worked as a warehouse supervisor at Kelly Springfield Tire Company until his retirement in 1995, showing a strong work ethic and commitment to work. He had a love of road trips, often driving across the country with his wife to explore new places. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and home improvement. One thing he was well known for was his sweet tooth. Not a day went by without him having a Baby Ruth, Butterfinger, or Almond Joy. He had a very kind and loving nature, never raising his voice, and showing kindness, patience and understanding to all that knew him.

John is preceded in death by his parents, John and Ida Nelson, wife, Margie and daughter Debbie. He is survived by his daughter Carol (Mike) Huffer; grandsons, Sean and Anthony Huffer; granddaughters Mandy Martini, Mallory Duncan, Allison Huffer; and great-granddaughters Karis Martini, Riley and Maisy McGillem; and great grandson, Declyn Totz.
