Mr. Jerry Kennon Smith, age 65, of LaGrange, passed away on February 14, 2025. Jerry was born on October 9, 1959 in LaGrange to the late Kennon Smith and Ann Evelyn Allen Smith.

Survivors include his daughter, Allison Deckard (Oscar); brother, Peter Smith (Lisa); sister, Jenny Williams (Bill); grandson, Charlie Deckard; several nieces and nephews.

Jerry won over countless friends, family, and acquaintances with his infectious laugh and zest for life. He enjoyed listening to classic rock and taking beach trips with his family to Panama City Beach, Destin, and Mexico. His most recent trip was to Costa Rica where he enjoyed the beautiful sunsets atop a mountain overlooking the Pacific Ocean every evening with his family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter Allen Myhand Chapel. Family will receive friends on Thursday at the funeral home beginning at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, a benevolence fund has been set up in the family’s name at the Baptist Tabernacle church in LaGrange. Donations can be made to the church or to Higgins Funeral Home by calling 706-884-5626.
